Current employment experience:

Mary is employed by the Champaign Unit #4 School District where she has worked at Carrie Busey Elementary School for the past 14 years. Her major responsibilities include completing Social Developmental Studies, writing IEPs for special education students who receive SW services, and working to improve the behavior of any child having behavioral concerns at school.  Mary meets with students individually, in small groups and in classrooms.  She also works with families to help them get needed services in the community and to create a stronger bond between the home and school.

Education background/licensing/certifications:

University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign: BS and MSW

Licensed Clinical Social Worker

In addition:

“Being an adjunct at the U of I while concurrently working in the field gives me the best of both worlds,” according to Mary.  She hopes that information from her work that  she shares with classes is a positive addition to the educational experience.
